The Secret* of BETTY... or Why you should do your exercises!
Do you want to know the secret to living longer, healthier, happier, and more productively? Just ask Betty... the indelible Betty Goedhart, that is. She came into our office last summer after a little setback in her exercise training, a referral from her daughter.
She was discouraged, but I challenged her to strengthen her balance and upper body. A few days later, I received a video clip of her doing a headstand on a mini trampoline! In no time, she was back at it again. At what, you might ask? Flying on the trapeze high above the ground! You see, Betty started 'flying', as she'd call it, just after she turned 78! She is now 82.
During those office sessions, I increased the challenge of her doing handstands (which she has never done before) since those upper body muscles are crucial for flying well. Low and behold, a few weeks ago, I received a photo of her doing the perfect handstand on parallel bars!
The secret to staying healthy can be encapsulated in a question that Betty would like to pose to everyone..."When do we stop running?" It is, of course, a rhetorical question as the answer is 'never'! Keep running in life, keep learning new things, keep focusing on the possibilities... keep playing.
For those of you not doing your 3 sets of 3 repetition daily exercises I've prescribed... consider what great things you could be doing, if you'd 'keep running'. We're here to help you get to where you want to go!
