ABC News recently reported “Earliest Flu Season in a Decade” (http://abc.go.com/watch/world-news-with-diane-sawyer/SH5585921/VD55261438/world-news-13-earliest-flu-season-in-a-decade).  The same time last year, only 79 people were reported with the flu – this year so far, 790.  In New York, it went from 84 to 3975 and Massachussetts, from 126 to 3736!

Looking at these numbers is enough to strike fear, especially since we’re surrounded by many sniffling and coughing around us.  Well, that is if you believe it’s normal to experience regular colds and flus, and if you believe erroneously that you can ‘catch’ a cold or bug.  The fact is, if your body is functioning in an alkaline environment, is well rested and fed with proper nutrition, the bad bugs cannot thrive in your body. Zippo! Not possible!  It’s like trying to grow a grass in the dessert!  Your body cannot catch it!  The below recommendations are guaranteed to work!  I’ve tested it myself and with patients over 20 years.  Many have high risk exposure like traveling a lot or working in a hospital environment.

Besides the commonly sense formula of ensuring proper sleep & rest, drinking enough water (so your body can do its job) and increasing your vegetable/fruit intake, you can add an extra boost to your immunity by adding:

  • Vitamin C (300-500mg, 3x/day)
  • Zinc (15-25mg, 3x/day)
  • Probiotics (Multi-Probiotics, S. Boulardii 2 caps, 2x/day) - the most potent ones are available from us.... we cannot advertise - message us @ contact@drchanghealth.com for more info.

These supplements will help your body produce the increased warrior white blood cells needed to chomp up the bad bugs at first contact.  I like using Garden of Life’s RAW line of vitamins because they are whole foods based and highly effective.  Those who find themselves still sick following the above recommendations often buy cheaper, chain store or pharmacy vitamins.  They tend to be poor quality, synthetic vitamins.  It’s like selling you hamburger buns and telling you they’re hamburger, or filling your car gas tank with water and expect it to run.

My favorite arsenal, S. Boulardii, is a very potent good yeast that latches onto the mucosal lining, preventing bad bags from taking root. I like emptying the capsules directly into the mouth and keeping them there as long as possible, especially at bedtime.  For those prone to getting nasal/sinus congestion, I recommend Sinus Relief or Congestion Relief sprays (available from us).  You simply squirt these into your nasal passage and keep it well protected.

You can't avoid the winter season, but you can avoid the cold & flu season.

Here's to a healthy year!

The above recommendations have been tested and used in our clinical practice for over 20 years.   Olivia Chang, D.C. (www.drChangHealth.com)
